Our Story
Studies have shown that we need to eat 8 non organic oranges today to get the same amount of Vitamin A as our grandparents would have gotten from 1.
Blake Schimek started Akuna Veggie Gardens through his massive passion for edible plants. His nick name at a previous job was even the "Steve Irwin of plants" due to his sheer enthusiasm and kahki get up. He worked for years at a vineyard as the head Horticulturalist growing grapes and organic fruit and veggies which produced 70% of the restaurants produce. This inspired him to create a business where everyone could have their own juicy delicious organic food grown in their own backyard, they just needed a little help. It was a dream for many years but the more he thought about it, the better it sounded. As he went on, it became not just a business idea but his little way of making a big difference in the world. Blake uses a combination of Permaculture, Korean Natural Farming and Organics so our food is as nutritious as it was in our grandparents era.
